Post Week 7 Mock Draft

Post week 7 seems like a great time to do a mock draft right? With the season getting close to half way it's a good time to talk about some of the top college prospects and ID some players that Miami might be able to draft and might have to play against next season. *The order of this mock draft comes directly from Tankathon.com (one of the best websites ever created).

1. Chicago Bears* (Via Carolina) - Caleb Williams QB USC

  • Without question one of the most physically gifted players at the quarterback position that we have seen in a while. Williams would step into an offense with an established WR1 in DJ Moore, a solid offensive line, that will get better here shortly, and a new head coach that one would assume would be an offensive coach (Hello Ben Johnson).
2. Arizona Cardinals - Marvin Harrison Jr. WR Ohio State
  • This pick could drastically change based on Kyler Murray's return to the field. If he struggles, this pick is Drake Maye who has really turned in on as of late, but at the same time Maye has struggled with accuracy. If Kyler plays well, you keep him and draft the best wide receiver prospect since Calvin Johnson.
3. Chicago Bears - Olu Fashanu OT Penn State
  • Braxton Jones, who is currently on IR, has been fine for a 5th round pick starting at left tackle but in the NFL draft, you don't let good players stop you from taking a great one, especially at a premium position. Fashanu would step in and immediately hold down the fort at left tackle which would free up Braxton Jones to slide into whichever guard spot you feel needs upgrading. I know they spent solid money on Nate Davis and Teven Jenkins was a 2nd round pick but if you're Chicago, protect Caleb Williams and put whoever the best 5 are on the field.
4. Denver Broncos - Drake Maye QB North Carolina
  • Even if Russell Wilson is still on the roster, which is very likely considering his contract situation, Denver needs to invest in a QB of the future and I think that Drake Maye sitting for a bit would be a good situation for him
5. New York Giants - Joe Alt OT Notre Dame
  • The Giants offensive line is horrible and Evan Neal has been nothing short of a bust at right tackle. Joe Alt has been phenomenal this season and maybe bumping Evan Neal inside to guard will help his career
6. New England Patriots - Bo Nix QB Oregon
  • I have to be completely honest, I don't like this QB class outside of Williams and Maye and even then I have questions about Maye. But New England needs a QB unless Mac Jones can have a massive turn around in the last 10 games. I do not who QB3 will be but Bo Nix has developed incredibly since his days at Auburn so he slots in here for now
7. Green Bay Packers - JC Latham OT Alabama
  • David Bakhtiari is out for the season, again, and the Packers need to find a long term answer at LT. With the way Jordan Love is playing I wouldn't be surpirsed if this pick ends up being a QB but for now, the Packers upgrade their OL
8. Los Angeles Chargers - Kool-Aid McKinstry CB Alabama
  • The Chargers corner back room needs help. Asante Samuel is great but as we saw in week 1, the Chargers need help at corner. Good thing they signed J.C Jackson to a monster deal right!? Kool-Aid is the best in the class and will fit in nicely with the Chargers
9. Tennessee Titans - Malik Neighbors WR LSU
  • If the Titans don't add a receiver with dynamic speed this off-season then this team is going nowhere no matter which QB is under center next year. Levis/Willis need more help on the outside and an aging DHop and Treylon Burks need someone to lift coverage
10. New Orleans Saints - Dallas Turner EDGE Alabama
  • The Saints continue to invest in edge talent and simply take the best player on the board. I know they just resigned Granderson and drafted Foskey but Turner is simply too good to pass on
11. Las Vegas Raiders - Laiatu Latu EDGE UCLA
  • Laiatu Latu reminds me an awful lot of Jaelen Phillips coming out of Miami, and that's not just because of the medical retirement then return to playing. Latu is a physical freak on the edge and the Raiders need a running mate for Maxx Crosby who is a true edge player, unlike Tyree Wilson
12. Minnesota Vikings - Cam Ward QB Washington State
  • I LOVE Cam Ward. He has all the traits in the world to be a superstar QB but he is really raw around the edges. If Ward can land in a place that can develop him, look out. I don't know what the future of Kirk Cousins is but man oh man would Ward and Justin Jefferson be fun. Ward won't be for everyone as he is still way away from starting
13. Indianapolis Colts - Brock Bowers TE Georgia
  • The Colts need more playmakers for Anthony Richardson and Brock Bowers might be the best one in the class. A bit undersized to be a traditional tight end, Bowers should play all over the formation for the Colts and will be a great security blanket for Richardson
14. Washington Commanders - Amarius Mims OT Georgia
  • Amarius Mims has barely played at Georgia but yet he still has a chance to go early in the 2024 draft thanks to his physical abilities and upside. Washington desperately needs help on the offensive line as the team is on pace to SHATTER the record for amount of times a QB has been sacked in a season
15. Los Angeles Rams - Jared Verse EDGE Florida State
  • Jared Verse has been pretty quiet this year but there is no denying the unbelievable talent he possesses. Pairing him with Aaron Donald would cause even more nightmares for opposing offenses
16. Arizona Cardinals* (Via Texans) - Jer'Zhan Newton DT Illionis
  • Jer'Zhan Netwon is a stud and Arizona is in need of some studs, especially on the dline. Netwon has 3.5 sacks this year and is consistently dominating inside for Illionis. He is a little undersized at 295lbs but as a 3T he will be fine
17. New York Jets - Kingsley Suamataia OT BYU
  • The left tackle position for the Jets has been a revolving door and Mehki Becton is scheduled to be a free agent this off-season. Suamataia is a guy who is already getting first round buzz but might continue to climb closer to the top half of the first round
18. Cincinnati Bengals - Keon Coleman WR Florida State
  • Keon Coleman is such a good player and I am not sure if the Bengals are going to be willing to pay what Tee Higgins is asking for this off-season. Add that into Tyler Boyd getting older and you suddenly have a huge need at wide receiver. Coleman has the size and speed to be a dominate receiver in the NFL and it wouldn't surprise me if Coleman is long gone by the 18th pick come April
19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Michael Penix Jr. QB Washington
  • I hate this pick but at the same time, Tampa needs to find a "young" QB to invest in. Penix has a lot of first round traits that get you excited but at the same time, his throwing motion and footwork needs work and he has an extensive injury history that some teams are going to be really uncomfortable with.
20. Atlanta Falcons - Emeka Egbuka WR Ohio State
  • We'd be talking about Egbuka A LOT more if it wasn't for some guy named Marvin. Egbuka is a physically talented receiver who was dominant last year for Ohio State. He missed some time this year with injuries and the QB play for the Buckeyes hasn't been what it is used to but don't discount Egbuka. Plus, Atlanta needs more weapons on offense, not that they are going to give them the ball anyway.
21. Buffalo Bills - Rome Odunze WR Washington
  • The Bills have a major problem at receiver. Gabe Davis is a free agent and to be completely honest, he's not even that consistent. Odunze is a big bodied receiver that has really played well since Michael Penix Jr. came to Washington.
22. Dallas Cowboys - Kalen King CB Penn State
  • Is corner the biggest need for the Cowboys? No, not with Stephon Gilmore and Trevon Diggs on the roster but Gilmore isn't getting any younger and King is a phenomenal talent who is just too good to pass up here.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers - Xavier Worthy WR Texas
  • Pittsburgh has some talent at receiver with Pickens and Johnson but what they really need is some speed on their offense and that is exactly what Xavier Worthy brings.
24. Houston Texas* (Via Browns) - Cooper DeJean CB Iowa
  • Derek Stingley has been hurt, again, and while older vets like Steven Nelson have played well for the team, Cooper DeJean would fit perfectly in this Demeco Ryans' defense. He has the length and athleticism that would pair perfectly with Stingley, if healthy.
25. Seattle Seahawks - Leonard Taylor III DT Miami
  • Leonard Taylor is a physically gifted defensive tackle who just needs to continue to get better and become more consistent. He is talented beyond belief and I think a team is going to fall in love with his traits and pick him early. Same can go for LSU's Maason Smith but Smith is coming off a knee injury and Taylor is starting to play well for Miami
26. San Francisco 49ers - Patrick Paul OT Houston
  • The 49ers didn't make a mistake when they left Mike McGlinchey walk and sign with the Broncos but they certainly haven't replaced him very well. Patrick Paul is a massive offensive tackle at 6'7 and could fit in quite nicely with the 49ers
27. Jacksonville Jaguars - Kamryn Kitchens S Miami
  • I feel like I mock a safety to Jacksonville every year so maybe this is the year they finally take one? Pairing Kitchens with Cisco would make a fun duo in the Jacksonville back end
28. Baltimore Ravens - J.T. Tuimoloau EDGE Ohio State
  • I hate that I have Tuimoloau this low, especially after his performance against Penn State but hey, it's only October right?
29. Detroit Lions - Xavier Legette WR South Carolina
  • Receiver might not seem like a big need for the Lions but Jamison Williams has had his struggles to start his career and outside of Amon Ra St.Brown the Lions really need some help out there. Legette is a name people are going to need to get familiar with fast. He is big (6'3 227) and explosive and can win at the catch point and with yac
30. Miami Dolphins -  Graham Barton OL Duke
  • Graham Barton will be best suited to play guard or center at the next level and luckily for him, Miami's starting LG, C, RG, and RT are all free agents this off-season and I don't see how Miami is going to be able to afford all of them.
31. Kansas City Chiefs - Ja'Tavion Sanders TE Texas
  • Life after Travis Kelce is on the horizon as he just turned 34 and even if it isn't the Chiefs need to add more playmakers to this passing game. Kansas City has been at its best the last two seasons when they line up in 12 personnel and Sanders would provide another explosive target in the middle of the field who you can also flex out wide
32. Philadelphia Eagles - Nate Wiggins CB Clemson
  • The Eagles are a tough team to pick for but I went with Nate Wiggins who is an extremely talented and long corner from Clemson. You can never have enough corners and it's not like Philly's corners are getting any younger
